Report of the Committee,
To Consider the Expediency of Marriage Fees and other Church Dues.
Your Committee beg to report, that they have enquired into the practices which are prevailing in different parts of this Diocese, and they find that there is much difference in the course which is followed. In some parts of the Diocese there is no fee for marriage, or for any other act which is performed; in others there is a marriage fee only, in others there are fees for marriage and also for the publication of banns;—in some places in addition to the fees above mentioned, there is also a fee for churching, and a fee for burial.
It is the recommendation of this Committee, that the fee for marriage, and that only, be adopted in all parts of the Diocese, and that the fee be fixed at the sum of ten shillings.
